i.heart.peppermint .

I absolutely hate how much of a commercial holiday Christmas has become. Halloween just passed and already there is Christmas music in shopping arenas and lights and snowmen on aisle 10 at Target. However the only thing that I am happy about is that Baskin Robbins starts to sell their AMAZING Peppermint Ice Cream. It's pure heaven with a candy cane in the mix. We eat so much of that ice cream every year, I even looked into ordering one of the big freezer case sizes for my MIL who is the one who hooked me up on it. I can't recommend it enough. It doesn't put me in the Christmas spirit because for some reason I remember having it for the first time around my birthday in January.

I'm not into the holidays at all this year. Mostly because I know that someone is going to get hurt this year because of how Mr. Bumblebee and I decide to spend them. Its not that I care, this is what Mr. Bumblebee and I have decided to do and it is what benefits us the most and allows us to have a good time, but I'm just not anxious to start the disappointments. This is the first holiday season for us as a married couple and hopefully throughout the years, people will become more understanding.
I really enjoy baking and I just came across the chocolate peppermint ice cream cake....oh my lawd! I am just looking for an event to make this bit of heaven. If anyone else wants to try it, you can find the recipe here. If you are dieting or just like to stay healthy, it's off the Cooking Light website so it's virtually sin-free...or close too.

Usually for the Christmas season, my father and I make the vascochos (mexican wedding cakes) for tradition. People rave over our cookies and always ask for the recipe but sadly there are only two people who know it and that is my father and I. It's a recipe that's been handed down in our family and I was lucky enough to get to know it. My mother and my sister don't even know it. I don't always see eye-to-eye with my father but I love how we can share this. It's our thing that we do for Christmas in memory of my loved Nana. One thing I can say is instead of almonds, we use pecans...yum!

Ok, enough about desserts...

We are opposites! No me gusta peppermint! (At least not in foods other than peppermints themselves!)

More for you! :)
